Ola al Haj Hussin is responsible for developing and managing Crescent Enterprises’ corporate citizenship portfolio, including the design, implementation and management of its strategy, and establishment of its mutually-beneficial partnerships with philanthropic and development organisations regionally and globally.
Ola has more than 14 years of specialisation in programme development, monitoring and management, and fundraising in humanitarian context with the United Nations, corporations and non-profit foundations in the Middle East, and within these has contributed to the establishment of pioneering projects in social enterprises, culture and education.
Ola first began her career at the grassroots level where she gained an extensive experience in the design, monitoring, management and fundraising of several socio-economic projects in more than 80 zones in Syria where she worked with various demographic communities with the Fund for Integrated Rural Development Of Syria and the cultural mapping programme; later she moved to enhancing social entrepreneurship through microfinance with the Arab Gulf Programme for Development as Project Manager for Idaa Bank, a Poor Bank in Syria, before joining UNICEFF and UNDP under fundraising and monitoring capacities.
Ola holds an Executive Leadership and Management degree from Saïd Business School- Oxford University, a Master of Science degree in applied development studies from the University of Reading - UK, and a diploma in French Translation from L’universitee de Lyon II and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Sciences degree from the University of Damascus.
Ola served as a steering committee member for the United Nation’s Small Grants Programme (SGP) and as a United Nations volunteer providing pschyo-social support for disadvantaged children in Syria.
